November 6
We were up early today and drove about 10 miles outside of Ouagadougou to a place called Gampela to attend the Sunday morning service at the Fulani Bible School. There lives a a group of about 50 Muslim Fulanis who are now believers in Jesus. We were very blessed by the experience. We enjoyed their African songs, and they sang and danced with such joy and passion, even the children.
This Sunday service was given by a guest speaker by the name of Galen. He is from the US and has been leading the project to help this group of people build their community and life for the last 10 years. There was a double translation going on during the service as Galen gave the service in French, then one of the elders translated to Fulani and Dave translated to English for our team. Although I must say that at times you did not need the translation as Galen gave the message with so much expression that you understood. Everyone in the room enjoyed his delivery of the service and shared in much laughter.

After the service we took pictures of each individual family and then toured their community buildings a bit in preparation. A large part of the work we have come to do while in Burkina will be to help these people.

After some rest time in the afternoon, we went further outside of Ouagadougou for an African picnic with fellow missionaries. There was a large clearing surrounded by forest. We played games like frisbee and bocchi ball and took a walk through the forest. We watched the sun go down and then shared a meal. I listened to the sounds of the forest before and after dark. It was quite loud with bird and cricket sounds. It was another great experience and we all hoped we would have a chance to come back again.
