November 9

We headed out early to continue the work with the Fulani people. Reg, Terry and Vincent continued the electrical project and also received assistance from two of the Fulani men. Andrew and Braeden continued with the Word computer training to further their knowledge of formatting documents.

The project for our mission team women today was to teach the Fulani women how to bake bread, cookies and a chocolate cake with icing. You will notice in the pictures that the women were very interested and many of them noted the recipes in their own language. Marianne was the one who conducted the cooking demonstration, and the rest of the the team women used the opportunity to build relationships with the Fulani women and children. Many of them, especially some of the young children, are hesitant towards us because we look different. We spent the time while Marianne demonstrated repeating and memorizing their names. They began to feel more comfortable with us and shared in laughter with us and about us trying to pronounce their names and other words.

People all around the world are the same in some ways. Here everyone is gathering to lick out the bowl!

The children enjoyed the cookies.

They divided up the cake and the other baking for each family.

The finished buns.
After we got back to SIM in the afternoon, we all enjoyed going for a swim in the pool at the International School of Ouagadougou which is a block from our compound. The days continue to be quite hot, and when working with the Fulani group, we are often indoors away from any breeze. The swim was very refreshing and relaxing.

In the evening, we went to a prayer meeting for the missionaries working with SIM. There were 23 people there from around the world who are involved in long and short term mission work. It was very interesting to hear their stories and to learn about their enthusiasm and their passion for their various ministries.
